Siemens is a global powerhouse in electrical engineering and electronics dating back more than 150 years. In Thailand, Siemens has maintained economic and technical links for about a century with the first agency agreement signed between then Siemens & Halske AG (S&H) and B. Grimm & Co. of Bangkok in 1900. In October 1995, Siemens Ltd. Thailand was established with B. Grimm as a joint venture partner. The company was able to position itself as a serious player in its own right through offering an entire range of products, systems, solutions and services. It presently employs a workforce of 1,700 employees. The company’s primary activities in Thailand are focused on developing the telecommunication and power infrastructure, urban transit systems, industrial and building solutions and services, automation and control products, medical equipment and the mobile business.
Siemens has played a key role in the development of major infrastructure projects throughout Thailand. The company has worked closely with TOT, Telecom Asia, AIS and the Royal Thai Air Force to modernize the countries telecommunications systems. Furthermore, Siemens provides technical know-how and products that helped to build petrochemical plants to supply energy to an ever growing country. Moreover, Siemens proved a critical role in developing the BTS Skytrain and MRT Underground mass-transit systems to Bangkok.
In addition Siemens Ltd. seeks to further develop Thailand through its Corporate Citizenship programs. These are highlighted by the ‘Widen the Little World’ program and youth scholarships to support young students and education. Moreover, Siemens proudly donated materials and funds to support the Tsunami victims.
